We Must Confess To Ourselves

 10.9.2022

If you look at your reflection at the bottom of the wellWhat you see is only on the surfaceWhen you try to see the meaning, hidden underneathThe measure of the depth can be deceivingThe bottom has a rocky reputation
You can feel it in the distance the deeper downYou stareFrom up above it's hard to seeBut you know when you're thereOn the bottom words are shallowThe surface talk is cheapYou can only judge the distance by the company you keepIn the eyes of the confessor...
The Confessor-Joe Walsh-1985
Confession, admittance of wrongs, reevaluating our stances on everything from past transgressions to current viewpoints of ourselves and others, and everything in between... I've really tried to do this on the daily for quite some time. I'm rarely successful as I'd like to be. And as hard as I try to not allow my political views dictate my actions, I'm never successful. My thoughts about the world now are not like my world as a younger man. I remain incredulous at happenings here in America as well as around the world.
Thus this blog. My venting & sharing place. My sweet Bride encourages me to calm my posting about the far right antics & viewpoints. But that doesn't serve me very well. My research keeps me skeptical, and the facts, overwhelming as they can be, speak to me as things that beg to be shared. The cost has been heavy.
Emotionally, I've had to toughen/thicken my skin more than ever.  I've had great support at home, and have been fortunate to have found several IG, FB, and TT sites with people A LOT smarter than me, to help me along the way. Professionals that take the time to video self help processes. Bless them all, as they are really making a difference based on their comment sections.
My last words today will echo my own feelings about politics. Vote Blue. Especially if you value firearm reform, fair taxing, racial equality, gender equality,  no voter suppression, elder care,  humanitarian aid, and other human beings. It seems so simple, but everyone is different. The feelings of being estranged from friends, and especially family, keeps a part of me heartbroken. I know I'm not alone in feeling like this.
Be well, all. Confess your true soul. 🌊🫂💙
Thank you for stopping in.

  1. Just curious! How are the voters being suppressed? Is it because they have to have an ID of some sort! They have to have so form of ID to get welfare, or to buy alcohol, or get a drivers license. State ID cards are free (I think).

Is it because no one can give them water while they wait to vote? Because they don’t drive! Hell in Athens you can ride the bus for free. Mail in ballots are available. It appears people are always want to make an excuse instead of getting off their ass and make an effort.

Gun control! How is that going to accomplish anything. There are already more guns out their in the country than we can count. We have plenty of laws for gun control. How about we just enforce the laws we have.

What happened in Las Vegas a week ago? Mass stabbing! Did the left raise any stink about knife control. No!

I don’t profess to have all the answers but these are just a couple of suggestions that I have:
1). Put them man back in the family. We need a steady commitment of Family for these kids. So they can feel loved, cared for, by both parents. Have role models to follow.

2). Stop the Babies having babies! Educate the young girls and boys about children and what’s involved. Teach them how to raise a family, before they go out and get pregnant at a young age.
3). Fix the mental health crises in America. Spend more of the taxpayer’s money on programs directed to mental health and less money on pork barrel bullshit that politicians put in bills. At the same time, get rid of programs that do not work. Have an evaluation process for these programs instead of just throwing money at failures.

4). Immigration reform. I am all for immigration and the ability for someone to better their life but we have absolutely no control of it now. There are procedures in place that should probably be reviewed and revised. Close our border and limit. We can’t even take care of our own but still want to leave the door open for everyone to walk in. The wall won’t hurt.

This is a free country and at one time, the best country in the world. Now we are just a society of finger pointers and cry babies. And we are watching it go down the toilet and everyone is to blame.

Sorry Steve! My time to vent!
