Immigration

 10.14.2022

As many issues as America has on the table, it's still a country to be proud to inhabit. Sure, how we got here was sketchy at best, but it's been a consistent work in progress. I understand the concept, as it's so much like life as we all know it.

Process improvement. Being very proactive vs reactive. Moving us forward, but never forgetting from where we came.

But therein lies the problems. So often, we appear to have been a little oblivious. A lot oblivious. We are supposed to grow as we move & progress in life. K-12, & maybe college, maybe straight to a career,  but continue to grow nonetheless. It took me a while as a slow to mature male. But now, let me help you see from my eyes.

Ever known someone that gave up their homeland for the possiblity of a better chance at life for their kids or family? Came to our country in search of opportunity for a chance to send money back to their family in the hopes of all being together again in a better place, away from terror or lack of employment, or for a better education? What if that described you? Or a friend? Or a relative? Or even a fellow human being?

What if you were sold & brought here, or were ancestors of a horrid genocide, yet STILL lacked real opportunity? What if you were a subject of human trafficking, but escaped your captors, and didn't have a single resource? What if?

Let's all put ourselves in the place of individuals seeking a better life, while remembering how fortunate we are to already be citizens of this wonderful land. Let's try to make amends to our fellow humans and  try to right the wrongs of the past. It's a lot of wrongs. It ain't gonna be easy. Or quick. But it all starts with a single effort to make a difference. Let's do this.

Thank you for stopping in.
