Stranger In A Strange Land

 08.22.2022

Leon Russell. My first rock & roll idol. I thank my sister for access to her 8-Track player & tapes that got me started, and my best friend's sister for the continuum. Between both of our sisters, we were well supplied.

Leon's style and lyrical magic still sticks with me on a daily basis. I had all of his music, and when the Leon Live double tapes came out, I was in heaven. I wore them out. For me, Leon putting lyrics and music to real life issues and situations was a big deal. Before U2, or Black Flag, or Sammy Hagar, or Foo Fighters, and so many more were engrained into my psyche, Leon made me think. And think I did, and do.

"Well I don't exactly know what's going on in the world today, I don't know what there is to say, about the way that people are treating each other, not like brothers..."

Leon Russell and the Shelter People-Stranger In A Strange Land-1971

Really? 50 years ago? Holy Mother Of Guadalupe! I can still picture all the people that jammed to Leon with me in my cars back then. Love and still miss them all.

We can learn a lot through history, even our own. I expect we all reflect on situations and peer interactions from our past. So many lessons learned, admitted regrets, growth, heartache, good times/bad times. (See what I did there?)

Even though I started this blog with the intention of shedding light on my thoughts on our current political environment, I find myself being repetitive. Not my mission. Nor is speaking about my past. So if you follow, please know that my world and my circle is pretty small. It won't always be this way, but for now, it's all about my family  and my feelings. So, apologies. I never mean to offend or bore.

Feel the love, good people.

Thank you for stopping in.
