It strikes at the strangest times, a little different for all of us. And it often strikes at the most importune times. Especially when there are times of distresses, be them good or bad. Nerves, man.
Days are filled with triggers that spark our anxieties. How do we make our motor fuels last a week, or more. So expensive! And the groceries! School supplies! Electric bills, and now the coming heating bills! Let's not forget taxes. Of course, the employment issues are too real. Employees taking up slack for dwindling staff remain all too stressed.
Parents, kids, siblings, grandkids, friends, neighbors, charities, and several needing a little help during these economic challenging times. So let's think outside the box to be as humane to our humans and pets and animals as we can.
Most all of the above strike a nerve with me. Add in ailments and the outrageous costs at the pharmacy and you've got a real mindfuck. This is one way the less fortunate end up homeless, or turning into and towards illicit activities, just trying to survive.
These are just a few of my bedtime thoughts. And as I awaken, they're often the first thoughts of the new day. Until I begin my daily research on our current political landscape. Then, it just compounds all of the above. Motherfucker.
I'm reminded, thankfully, of the teaching of my parents and so many others in my life, offering solutions to their own triggers of nerves:
- Eliminate myopia
- Take 100% responsibility
- Be kind
- Be compassionate
- Engage positively
- Consider alternative solutions
- Eliminate procrastination
- Hold hands with your loved ones
- Be appreciative
- Be polite
- Use your manners
- Stand your ground
- You can accomplish anything
- If you love someone, show it
- Involve yourself in community
- Encourage kids
- To thine own self be true
