"There were three main causes of the civil war including slavery, sectionalism and secession. Slavery was a huge part of it and it led to the Missouri Compromise where any states below the border would be slave states and the anything north of that was free states."
Smell familiar? It should. I profess to be a realist. And not trying to be an alarmist. But, every day, I read opinions from the left (me) & the right (them). The Democrats consistently win my vote. Liz Cheney & Adam Kinzinger, however, continue to give hope to me and other dems. A ray of hope that other republicans may emulate? We can only hope.
So 160 years after the beginning of the Civil War, strong feelings about it's final outcome still continue to surface. Sometimes brightly. Personally, I have seen, heard, and experienced lots of division, and it's hard to take. Living in Texas and now in Georgia has provided me with clear snapshots of the preferred ways of many. I'm thankful for my interactions and knowledge of multiple cultures, most of them provided in real time, through real experiences. My life has been enriched by all races, different cultural beliefs, but mostly of not being closed- minded.
So let's all put forth our greatest efforts to once and for all establish a solid United States. I mean united, one and all. We all need to respect one another's differences, heritage, religion, cultures, teachings.
Another Civil War is not eminent. It can't be. We've come too far. But half of our voting populous brought trump on board, so there's work to do. For the betterment of all, please vote, and vote Democrat. My sleeves are rolled up. Yours?
Today was my 30th post. It's my hope that something inside of you has been ignited. 🫂🌊
Thank you for stopping by.
