Two months after a hate mongering Cracker massacres ten innocent human beings, Tops has reopened. I remember the day it happened, and watched in horror as the story coverage expanded. Nineteen year old Payton Gendron, racist domestic terrorist, committed premeditated murder, shutting down the local grocery store that served a very dependent community. Way to make momma proud, you steaming heap of dung. The lives lost were just folks shopping. A place any of our family members might have been.
Now what?!?
Forgive him? Wait until karma comes in the form of prison justice? Banish him to "The Hole"?
My vote goes to prolonged suffering, living with himself and his decisions, being judged by his incarcerated peers, having all rights and prison privileges revoked. No communication with the outside world, no books, no councilor, no TV, no radio, no newspaper, no letters coming or going, and to be blocked from groceries, like his actions dictated to many, particularly our elderly, for two months. THEN, check in on him, maybe every few days. What a drain on our society. Tough foe me to go the 'forgive him' route.
And what about Uvalde? Synagogues? Churches? Movie Theaters? Shopping Centers? Convenience Stores? Or vigilantes? Or rouge law enforcement officers? White nationalists? Gangs? It's enough to make you want to scream. I'm not a fan of arming teachers, like many have suggested, but I AM a fan of intelligent reviews of the status quo. I believe in our democracy, but not the majority of the elephants in the room. Please contact your local/state representatives with solid, doable changes that will make shootings, especially mass shootings, go away. Our faith in humanity has been tested. Now respond.
